I graduated from James Madison University with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Political Science. I am currently attending Law School at Charlotte School of Law.
Experience
I have experience tutoring K-12. Several children I've worked with had special needs including autism and ADHD. I have not tutored in music before, but I do have extensive knowledge of music. I've played the flute for 15 years and the saxophone for 8, on both I've performed professionally. In regards to AP classes, in high school I personally took and passed AP Psychology, AP English Literature, AP English Language, AP Government, AP Statistics, and AP U.S. History. I understand the struggle they can be at times, but also how to study and prepare effectively. All of the courses have since been reinforced with classes during undergrad. I have several years worth of experience tutoring and thoroughly love it. Watching kids gain skills they didn't previously have, or get excited over learning something new is thrilling and heartwarming. I enjoy watching children meet and exceed their own goals. For high school level kids, I also teach them a lot of study and note-taking techniques that make the learning process easier while I'm not with them. I love seeing them get excited later when they realize that they absorb a lot more during class and the studying process is suddenly less overwhelming. All of the children I've worked with have had dramatic improvements in their skills. For example, one girl with ADHD was a grade level behind in math and reading. Over the course of a month and a half she was not only caught up in both subjects, but slightly ahead in math.
